Q. Where do I have to go and during which hours?

  • To the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate in whose jurisdiction you reside, during 9.30 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. to collect the blank form and 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. to collect the certificate on any working day. Q. Which papers/documents/fees, do I take with me?

  • Application form duly attested by M.P,M.L.A., , Municipal Councilors or Gazetted Officers. Copy of Ration Card or other Proof of Residence.
  • Birth Certificate or School Certificate showing date of birth or if applicant is illiterate, an affidavit declaring age.
  • An affidavit declaring name, fathers name, residential address, period of residence in Delhi & caste, and attested by oath commissioner/notary public.
  • In case applicant is a married woman, proof of residential address before marriage.
  • Copy of SC Certificate of father / brother/ sister, if any.
  • Where no SC/ST Certificate has been issued to any member of applicant’s family, two witnesses who are Government servants are required who should give in writing that they know the person and his caste, alongwith the attested copies of their identity Cards.

      Note:

  1. All documents needs to  be  attested
  2. All documents can be attested by MPs/MLAs and Gazetted Officers.
  3. Wrong attestation will invite consequences irrespective of the person verifying  the caste or documents

 
Q. What will be the criteria used while deciding my case?

  • For a list of Scheduled Castes notified for Delhi, Click Here.
  • In case where the applicant is a permanent resident of Delhi & has appended a copy of SC/ST certificate issued to any member of his family, no local inquiry is conducted. In such case, verification is done from record available in office of SDM or CCS branch in office of Divisional Commissioner. Where the record is not available in office of SDM or CCS branch, a local inquiry is conducted.
  • In case, no member of the applicant’s family has been issued a certificate earlier, a local enquiry is conducted.
  • In case of a married woman, the local enquiry is conducted at the place of residence prior to marriage as well as the place of residence after marriage.
  • Such certificate cannot be issued to a person if he is already in possession of such certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
